There are a number of active supports and resources available to community members:
The Province of Newfoundland is supporting temporary housing for uninsured households that have major damaged or destroyed homes due to the wildfires. The program has been extended to Sept 30, 2026.
Please continue to monitor provincial communication channels, the website, the Towns social media, and for updates on the program. View Press Release
Debris removed from damaged/destroyed properties, without insurance and within the Municipal boundaries, can be brought to the Municipal depot yard whereby the town will arrange disposal to the appropriate external facility.
The debris must be segregated (metal, ash and lumber & general waste) , please consult with the town maintenance personnel for specific locations within the depot yard.
The Town will be looking for remediation of all properties by Spring/Summer of 2026.
Properties not cleared within this timeline will be subject to the town policy on Yard Waste. (View Yard Waste Policy)
The Town will contact remaining affected properties regarding debris & hazards including open wells that have not been remediated by the above timeline and will endeavour to provide assistance within its capacity.
Please contact the Town Office if you have specific questions or require assistance or clarification.
