Town of Small Point – Adam’s Cove

The Town has updated their fire policy by-law. This bylaw is intended to protect public safety and property by regulating outdoor fires.

This by-law works in accordance to the provincial regulations regarding fire season and fire policy enforcement.

To report a wildfire, call 1-866-709-FIRE (3473)

Fire Season in Newfoundland is from May 1st – September 15th. Check the Fire Hazard Map to see the current fire risk (updated daily).

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has wildfire management website that provides information about fire rules and regulations, permitting, and firefighting efforts and best practices.

Burn Permits

During fire season, burn permits are needed for some outdoor fires.

FREE burn permits can be obtained at the Paddy’s Pond Forest District Office. Permits can be picked up in person or mailed to your address. Contact the office for more information.

Domestic Cutting Permit

Domestic Cutting Permits are needed to cut timber on or remove timber from Crown lands or public land. Permits can be obtained through MyGovNL Portal. For more information on how to apply and view your permit, view this application process video.

Fees:

  • Domestic Cutting Permit – Individual $25
  • Domestic Cutting Permit – Senior $16.25

North Shore Volunteer Fire Department

Fire protection is a mandatory service of the Town. The NSVFD operates in conjunction with the town council for the purpose of firefighting, fire prevention and other emergency services both within towns boundaries and outside as deemed regional by the fire department service area ( Kingston-Burnt Point ).

If you are having a permitted, open air burn, please give a call to the North Shore Volunteer Fire Department. This helps:

  • Reduce community confusion
  • Keep responders available for 911 calls
  • Ensure fire safety is being followed

FireSmart Canada is a national program that helps Canadians increase neighbourhood resilience to wildfire and minimize its negative impacts. They have a lot of resources, information, and supports on how to reduce Fire hazard risk to your property.

  • Garbage Day is Monday
  • Both garbage & recycling will be collected

Well / Water Information

The town will maintain list of Residents wishing to be connected to town water supply , please contact the office to add your name and property details , however, adding your name does not guarantee water supply .Supply will be based on well capacities, infrastructure requirements and each case will be considered independently
