Situation Update – August 14, 2025 8:00 p.m.

Town of Small Point, Broad Cove, Blackhead, Adam's Cove

The fire is currently approaching the Sands in Northern Bay. There was significant backburning at the Southern edge toward Perry’s cove. While the air assets and ground crews are doing a commendable job, significant rain is required to allow the firefighters to gain an edge. There is some rain in the forecast for tomorrow. Let’s hope that it is enough to make a difference.

The winds are forecasted to change from southerly to northerly late tomorrow night. This will bring smoke over the communities from Salmon Cove to Carbonear. Please be prepared to follow the guidance for poor air quality.
