Important Update for Residents of Small Point to Adams Cove and Kingston Regarding Fire Zone Assessment

Town of Small Point, Broad Cove, Blackhead, Adam's Cove

Preliminary Findings and Next Steps

We wish to inform residents that a preliminary assessment of the recent fire zone has been completed. In addition to the 9 dwellings previously reported, another 24 dwellings were lost as a result of the fire. This assessment was for dwellings only and does not include outbuildings (sheds, garages etc..) and/or damage to structures.

We regret to say that the Adam’s Cove Schoolhouse was lost in the fire, https://heritagenl.ca/heritage-property/adams-cove-methodist-school-hall-registered-heritage-structure/

We were able to also conduct a preliminary assessment for the community of Kingston and can confirm that 10 dwellings were lost as a result of the fire.

Our team has already begun the process of reaching out directly to the affected property owners to advise them of their loss and to discuss the supports and resources available to assist them during this difficult time. We will conduct this process as quickly as possible.

The town expresses its deepest sympathy to all those who have lost their homes.
