Fire Update

Town of Small Point, Broad Cove, Blackhead, Adam's Cove

Today’s weather conditions were once again unfavorable for fire suppression efforts. However, the fire’s expansion along the northern edge was less significant than anticipated. Fire guards in the northern area are proving effective in containment, and crews continue to actively manage hot spots and flare-ups in parts of the town impacted by the fire.

While we can confirm that additional structures have been lost within the evacuation area, we are unable to identify specific dwellings at this time. Detailed assessments will only be conducted once it is safe to enter the area.  When we know the information those effected will be notified.

The communities of Perry’s Cove and Salmon Cove have not been impacted.

Reinforcements Incoming

Wildland firefighters from the Canadian Air Force are scheduled to arrive tomorrow to assist with suppression efforts. A high-capacity helicopter will also be deployed to support aerial operations. In addition, 20 wildland firefighters from Ontario have already arrived and are actively contributing to the response.

Stay Tuned

We will continue to share updates as new information becomes available. Thank you for your patience, support, and vigilance during this challenging time.
