Exciting news from Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS)!
Following joint efforts to bring MDS to the North Shore, as you all know, we now have a commitment to support the construction of 3–4 homes in 2027, with work beginning in the spring. MDS provides skilled volunteer labor at no cost, while homeowners are responsible for providing the building materials.
***Applications for the 3-4 homes are now open until October 31!***

A few important details:
- Criteria for who is chosen to receive a home is entirely decided by MDS
- Deadline for completed forms: October 31, 2026
- Who can apply: Individuals who lost their primary home in the 2025 CBN wildfires – whether insured or uninsured, all are encouraged to apply
- How to apply: Complete the attached form digitally or by hand. Completed forms can be scanned or photographed and emailed directly to mfalco@mds.org
- Need help? Applicants are encouraged to contact their Red Cross Case Manager for assistance completing the form.
- Please note: Applications must be sent directly to MDS, not to me or the Town.
While this is an MDS-led project, moving it forward is a collaborative effort involving residents and agencies across the whole North Shore.
